It all started when...

My daughter, Jane, said:

“Dad, could we stop playing with the Corvairs and set up the trains?”

I thought about how my children are getting older, and how we only set up our trains at Christmas, and I heard myself answer, “Yes, Jane. We can.”

This website is the story of our first family train layout. There are a fair number of pictures so, if you’re on a dial-up connection, you might want to get a Coke to drink while you wait for the pages to load...

Our layout met up with a bit of a sad ending but, like all good train layouts, the experience has whetted our appetites for building the next one.
